Inspiration

20121212-1845441Whenever I’m having a block in writing, or if I need to think through plots or twists or story ideas, I go for a walk.

It was during a walk when I was inspired to write my children’s series, “Shadow Cat,” because I had strolled by the tree where my cat had fallen out after being chased up it by a dog, and I thought to myself that it would make a great idea for a short story. So, I went home and started writing. Halfway through, I realized that it was more than a short story, and it turned into the first of 5 books in the series.

You never know where and when inspiration comes to us, but if you open yourself up to quiet time, the possibilities are endless.

  1. Okay, trying again. It opened, lets see if it will let me leave this comment. If it does, then you must be good to go……Keeping my fingers crossed….here I go.

  2. I am going to go to my room, because it is too dark to go for a walk and it is too cold to be out there, but I hope when I lay my head on my pillow some kind of inspiration will come to me before I close my eyes….sometimes you just have to wait on it……writers are also patient…..I think,

  3. Writers are patient, indeed! Inspiration comes to us sometimes when we least expect it.

  4. I am lovin your author website. You are going to make me go work on mine.

I need to create another word press website so that I can work on it myself. I paid for the hosting ect I also think I should just have one author website that I work with….I am liking “Strutting my Stuff”. What do you think? I just need to get it circulating and get some subscribers. Make it look more like what you have done. Do I have the right information on it so far?

    • The blog that’s on your winonarasheed.com website, you can access, but you can’t access the rest of the site to update or work on it?

      • No, :( My web designer does that. That’s why I need a word press site that I operate. My web designer stays to busy to do anything it seems.

        • How do you post a blog on your site? Do you send it to the webmaster? So far, I really am pleased with WordPress. It was a bit of a bumpy transition to go Live, but seems fine now (fingers crossed). I think it’s really important whatever site or blog you use, that it’s connected to your URL.

          • I can get to my blog by way of my username and password that the web designer set up for me. I will have to make sure my blogs are connected to my URL.

          • Hey Catherine, I see you sent me a message, didn’t understand it because it looked like you were having trouble with your site. I couldn’t even go there to leave a message.

          • Yup, you’re right, a slight learning curve on my part. I was trying to tweak, only instead I accidentally sent out a blog post. I deleted it cause it was mumbo jumbo! Hopefully, I’ll get this down! ;)

          • :) I know you will get it right. I’m still working on my last article, which is due tomorrow.

          • Where can I read your articles at?

          • Hey Catherine, these articles are bought and used on different websites. Once they leave my hands, they go to the website who has ordered the work from the company I work for. I get to pick and choose what article to write as they come in. For instance, I wrote something On Chocolate and Mesoamerica, which I never heard of until the article. This particular article was for LB articles website.

  6. Can you post the links? Or no?

    • I don’t have their link information, just the name name of the website that the articles are written for. For instance when I grabbed that last article to write, the information showed that the article was for LB articles website. I don’t send the articles to them when I am finished with it, it goes back to the company that hired me to write for them and then they submit it back to the owners of the website.

  7. I’m finally back online from without having power for 14 hours. I was just about to ask you what LB articles is? Maybe you could write an article about how to write articles! :)

    • Hey there techie lady. Wow, without power for 14 hours, what happened? I am not sure what the LB stand for. Articles come in from all over, different websites requesting work. These articles with with different formats, and they all require links, which you have to search on line for. Some require ten links, others require as mush as 20 and 25 links. Some websites request require that the links have a description. I hate those because that’s just more work. I’ve notice that LB articles have anywhere from 5-20 links but they don’t ask for link descriptions, which I like. Topics vary from writing about coupons to writing about the parts of a flower. Some articles are geared toward children and other geared toward adults. I’ve found some very interesting topics to write about that were of interest to me. I like writing about history, travel destinations, health issues and on and on and on. I just turned another one in this morning….I think I am going to take a day or two off and kind of relax, because it does wear you out, but I love it. I was sitting here just wondering what I could blog about today. LOL

      • There was some kind of “interruption to the power station.” At least, that’s what the recording said every time I called it for an update. Typically, the power will go out when it snows but this time it was unusual because it hadn’t snowed. 35,000 electricity customers were without power, it was a whopper of an outage.

        • Well, I am glad everything is up, running and back to normal. Power outages make for an unhappy camper, don’t know how many times we have been through one and I guess there will probably be more in the future. I wonder, would it be better for power lines to be underground?

  8. When I lived in Tucson, the lines were underground and it was fabulous. It looked clean and our power never went out, and we had some doozy monsoon’s, but that’s a whole ‘nother story!
